The Cardinal & The Crow By: Michael Moniz @ForestofReading


Our seventh Blue Spruce book is The Cardinal & The Crow. 

 All the birds tease old Crow because of his scraggly feathers and harsh call.  The worst bully of all is Cardinal.  Even though Cardinal is mean to Crow, Crow warns Cardinal to be careful when he is at a backyard bird feeder.  Cardinal ignores Crow's advice and finds himself in danger.  Will Crow choose to help Cardinal?

    Our class liked The Cardinal & The Crow because we learned that it's not nice to judge someone based on how they look. We also learned to help others when they are in trouble. The pictures were nice because the birds, cat and leaves have most of the colour and the background is very faded. By: Mrs. Nicholl's Grade 2s

    I think this book was excellent because the Crow showed integrity and he deserved an award. He saved the Cardinal from getting eaten even though the Cardinal always bullied the Crow. By: Magoo

    I think this book was good because the Crow did something very nice to prevent the Cardinal from dying. It was a super nice thing to do because the Cardinal was Crow's enemy but he still saved him. By: Jo Jo

    I think this book was excellent because of the lesson. You learn to do the right thing always. Crow risked his life even though Cardinal was a bully. By: Jaker Pod

    I think this book was very good because of the feelings it gave me. In the book when the cat had the cardinal in his mouth the crow used sarcasm to help the cardinal even though the cardinal was mean. The book made me feel happy because Crow helped even though Cardinal was mean. By: Shoelace

    I think this book was excellent because it shows that if you make the wrong choice someone can get hurt. Even if someone was mean to you if they need help you should help them. You should always forgive. By: Julie-Bean
