Sam just got a pet hamster. It's a boring pet. Reading her book about mythological creatures, Sam dreams about a more interesting pet. She soon realizes that a magical creature might not make such a good pet.
Some thoughts from Mrs. Vlahos' Class: This book was funny because the hamster wondered why the girl didn't like it as a pet. It was funny when the hamster transformed. It seemed a little boring when the little girl was just reading about creatures. It looked like the hamster could turn the pages when he was sitting on top of the book.
I think this book was excellent because the characters are cool. They are cool to me because they look cool and sound cool because they were all different types of animals. My favourite was the mermaid. (E.W.)
