This Red Maple book gives you an inside look at what children in some countries may experience in prison. The main characters, Pax and Kai, are orphans and have a special bond. When their orphanage is shut down they are forced to live on the streets. Pax knows Kai is smart and wants to send him to university. Pax is desperate for money and accepts a job from a dangerous man named Mister. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens!
I liked how this book made me feel empathetic for the characters and what they had to go through. This book made me want to make a change in our society and help children like Pax and Kai. Some parts of this book I found very hard to read. Some sentences were just heartbreaking. I would recommend this book to people who are okay with some violence. I am usually not into this type of book but, I overall enjoyed Prison Boy.
